I have a choice of front buckets on a used backhoe I am buying. How much more is a 4 in one worth and how much more efficent is it than a std. bucket?

Depends on what size machine it is if the machine is to small the 4 in one would eat up to much of the capability of the FEL because of the added weight.

I saw a nice 4 in 1 go on e-bay for $550 but it would depend on what size brand and the condition. Pics would help.

The 4 in 1 can speed up clean up in most situations and has a good bit more versatility.

It would be on a JCB 212. Almost full size backhoe. Condition is good, made by JCB. Have no idea what this bucket would cost new. If I got the std. bucket and needed a 4-1 later. Maybe I ought to just get the 4-1 now with the backhoe.

Get the 4 in 1. Having one is like working wearing gloves v. wearing mittens .

You can't beat the 4n1 when you are finishing up a job and want to pick up that last bit of material or grab a log or stump to get it on a truck or outta the way. I think the 4n1 would cost 1500 to 2000 more than a standard bucket. I'd get it, that 212 will handle it with no problem.

Get both, then sell the std. later when you see how nice having a 4n1 can be.

Absolutely get the 4in1. Look around and see how many 4 in 1's are on pro tractors.

I have found only one thing a standard bucket can do better than a 4-n-1, which is to carry a load of wet concrete when you can't get the concrete truck close enough.

Other than than that the 4-n-1 is equal or better at every task.

4 in 1 is my favorite attachment. I hardly ever use my regular bucket. It is much easier to get a good fill on the 4 in 1.

I have 3 machines with loaders. All have 4/1 buckets. The GP buckets seem to sit around and take up space.

It's also another tool that makes a backhoe more versatile than a mini-ex.

I would expect you'd pay at least $5,000 for a new one.
