JD 4400
Got my 3rd SCV on my JD 4400 installed today. Easy to do, just a little time consuming when working alone. Will make up hydraulic lines tomorrow and try it out with a snow blower.

Good to hear, get a hydraulic top link to make use of those rear remotes when the blower isn't on.

I did mine myself too on a 4310, I have PBY which makes it a little tighter to fit those hard lines.

Last spring the "3rd" on my 4300 was getting very stiff. (It only gets used for the snowblower chute rotator) Any ideas on a cause? Other than rust in the cable....Got to free it up before snow comes, shoulda done it in June....

Hi Pat

There are three areas that could cause the 3rd SCV to be "sticky".

One, as you said, could be rust in the cable itself. The second could be the control lever itself. Three screws, on the tire side of the fender, hold the cup holder in place. Pull the black handle off the lever and lubricate the pivot point of the lever. Third, is the piston that the cable is attached to, at the valve. This is accessed by removing two nuts, at the front, and two bolts, at the rear of the seat frame. The seat and frame come out together (heavy). You can look down at the valve and see the piston. There could be some corrosion on the exposed part of the piston.

Hope this helps.
