I have a 4400 and changing implements on the 3pth is a pain. I am considering a Quick Hitch from TSC or the new telescopic links now available for the compacts. Does anyone have comments on the best approach to solve this problem.
Thanks

Jerry,
Either solution will help to solve your problem. The links are probably a little less expensive. The quick tach will be a little easier yet to hook up equipment. Either way you will be frustrated alot less. What are they asking for the quick tach from Tractor Supply? It cost me around $160 to put the telescoping links on my 4600.

Thanks for your response. The TSC catalog shows a price of $170 for catgory 1 hitch. I haven't actually seen one but I am a little worried about catching the top link. Most of my implements have structual bolts not to far below the top link pin which might make it difficult to catch with the hook on quick hitch. Maybe the hitch has a simple solution but its no obvious from the picture in the catalog.

Category 1 Quick Hitch Adapter
Enables you to use the SpeeCo Category 1 Quick Hitch with implements not made to ASAE Quick Hitch Standards.

Average Retail for Quick Hitch Cat I - $160-190, Top Link Adaptor $12.

John,
You are amazing. It blows my mind that you get all this information.

I don't know which is "better" - pretty subjective. All I can tell you is that I have the telescoping links on my Boomer & my back & I love 'em. They are easy to use & save a lot of time fooling around trying to get the tractor perfectly lined up with the implement. They also save a lot of back pain trying to move an implement, that is way heavier than God ever intended the human body to move, /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif that extra 2 inches to meet the tractor . Either option you choose I'm sure you'll find it to be money well spent.

How do the links "telescope"? Is it a threaded turnbuckle adjustment or hydraulic? The reason I ask is that my lowly 755 has threaded adjusters on the links so I can't believe the 4000 series does not at least have those. ?

Thanks,

Sorry I have been away from the board for a while. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif On the NH you just push down a spring loaded lever on the arm & the end unlocks & can telescope out to a limited distance. Once your hooked up you can just back into the implement a little & the links slide back into the arm & lock. Oh the frustration they have saved me. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I had one of those TSC quick hitches which I found pretty much useless since the top link hookup interfered with most of the top link attachment points on my equipment. Couldn't hitch anything. It's a clunky design. I should think the adjustable draft links would be much better. They had 'em in the late 50's for category 2 equipment (maybe still do), but I can't horse a 500 lb attachment any easier than I can a 1500 lb attachment.

I decided to buy a TSC quick hitch and would agree that the hook for the top link is absolutly useless. The unit however was packaged with the SpeeCO top link adapter so I removed the hook and replaced it with the adapter. I still have to get off the tractor to pin the adapter but over all the quick hitch is much easier than the standard 3 point. On my 4400 I had to mess with the 3 points and the two cleevis pins for lateral movement. Now its down to just the top point. A reasonably level surface is still required as overall alignment is still important. Thanks to all for there comments.
