Id like to convert this 3pt that came with my BX1800 to a belly mower. What would I need. I know I need to rotate the gearbox but it looks like at one time it was a mid mount.. I dont want to start a 3 pt vs bm thread. 20130330_151842.jpg

I would start by looking up the deck model number on the Messicks site's exploded parts diagram and make sure that the part numbers on the gearbox match (ie: that you still have the OEM gearbox). Compared to the mowers on our BX and B, it is missing the front bracket that goes from the front of the mower, to the front of the tractor frame (mounts to the same place as the middle front scalp wheel).
Otherwise, it looks possible to switch it back assuming that everything is there on the tractor side.

wouldn't you need a different gear box ???
rear pto is 540, mid pto is 2500 rpm. that's almost a 5X difference.

Yeah, pretty sure it used to be a belly mower. The gear box look wrong also. You probably need a gear box and the brackets. First thing is to figure out what tractor is was designed for.

Depends on the deck and the machine.
If it started life as a mid mount deck which was then converted to a 3 point deck and was just run off of the 1000 RPM PTO option that some tractors (like our B7500) have, perhaps not.
If it started as a 3 point deck with a 540 gearbox, yes a new gearbox would be in order. So the first thing to do would be to see what it was intended for and what the gearbox specs are. For that, we would need the deck model number from the tag on the deck.

That deck is an older Kubota ground engaging deck possibly off a B=series. The BX decks are suspended not ground engaging.

Not to hi-jack, but I'd like to do the reverse. I have a B6200 which came with a belly mower. It has a front(as in between the front two wheels) pto to run the belly mower. I want to convert it to run as a 3ph finish mower. So, I need to change out the gear box? Might be easier to sell it and get a regular rear finish mower. Any thoughts?

A regular 60" 3 point finish mower runs $500 to $900 around here. A CUT or SCUT MMM deck runs $1000 to $2000 around here depending on age, condition, if it comes with the brackets, etc.
I would just buy a 3 point deck and sell yours (with the brackets if possible). Its the perfect time of year to do so.

Yeah. Thats probably what I'll do. Mine's 30 years old, but well maintained. Probably won't get more than $500 for it. I wonder if a new gear box would be needed to put my old MMM on a newer model? Mine has a shaft running from near the front axle to the MMM.

Post the deck model number and I can look to see what it will fit.

I have a Mid 80's Kubota B6200E and that deck is a dead ringer for the MMM it came with from the factory. As people have said, the gearbox is not the factory unit.

Good luck with your conversion back to MMM.

Check the part number on the gearbox. The OEM PN is: 76521-99510 and costs over $1000 for a new one.

So are you saying my MMM will only fit on a B6200? Mine came from the dealer with it and I want to migrate to a rear mower. Do you think I can sell it? Unlikely if it only fits the 6200.

Stick it on Craigslist and see if anyone is interested in it. There is probbaly someone else out there looking for it. When Dad sold his Deere 755 TLB, it went 3 ways. One guy bought the backhoe, and a couple of brothers bought the tractor/loader as one bother wanted the loader and the other wanted a mowing tractor...
