3PT Down Pressure

LD1 has good insight. If using down pressure all the way with the sub soiler, then you will be asking for trouble with a big rock encounter. I would assume that once the sub soiler is set all the way down, the operator releases pressure, as like mentioned by another poster, it will stay in the ground by the nature of a well designed angle of attack.
Down pressure would also be very usefull with a back blade at times, if only considering the weight transfer could be partial. Lifting the tractor rear end will not accomplish much usefull unfortunately...
I beleive that it is a feature well worth having on a mid size and bigger "Ag" tractor. Personally, I have thought about doing it. Using a cylinder attached at the lowest top link mounting point, going to the back blade, and using the rear remote, or one of my power beyond ports. Back blade would need modifications. All in all, a good off hours project in summertime!

I had an Allis 720 with down pressure on the 3PH. Had to be careful when tilling to put 3PH in float mode, otherwise the tiller would take the weight off the rear wheels and the tractor would take off at a gallop! It obviously didn't help to throw the hydrostat into reverse or hit the wheel brakes either!

Hey! Another guitar builder in the group. Nice pics on your web site! Might be fun to start another thread like "what do you do when you're not tractoring or sleeping"
Lots of creative people visit this forum. Bet it would make for some interesting posts.
