Use a 4x6 flat for the front skid, as mentioned, then dump some gravel inside and outside the skid to make a level, mud-free area, with no skid bump to cross. Bruce

that is a good compromise! Now to go measure all my attachments and see if they will fit in the size shed I envsion

If I was dead set on making it movable, I would build the skids out of pipes or tubing with curved up ends and weld up the framing. If it's wood and it's moved around, it's going to loosen up a bit every time

Check online for "Stone boats". This is a very heavy skid type carrier built for hauling stone. Out dated for sure by modern means of transporting stone but this type of construction would certainly work for your project. I found one years ago in an old barn and didn't know what it was and ended up buying it for hauling stone on my house. Worked like a charm. They are very robust and this type of construction would certainly apply for you. You should find plenty of pictures and drawings, maybe even plans for them online.

I built a "equipment shed" some years ago that's about 48' long, 16' deep and 10' high on the open side.
The open side faces due south. Unfortunately, the building doesn't offer all that much weather protection from blowing snow or rain.
My current to do list includes installing sliding doors on the open side.

for the small additional expense I think I would add sliding doors. Just got the price quote back for materials from the home center. $1000, which sounds like a much better deal then spending $600-700 on a tarp type shed n

The ideal direction for shed to face is east, It will give the most protection that way. If it faces any other way I would add doors. Ed
