I currently have the tractor split replacing the clutch. There seemed to be a lot of oil in the housing, and on the back of the fly wheel. I'm thinking it may be the crankshaft seal. How difficult is it to relieve the seal? I just can't seem to find any info on replacing the crankshaft seal. Is it just behind the cover with the 8 screws and 2 from the oil pan?

Thanks

It is very easy to replace the seal on this engine. Remove the seal housing that is bolted to the block. Look at the crankshaft for a deep groove the seal may have made. If it is very deep you have 2 options. One option is to reposition the new seal so that it is not riding in the same place. Second option is to install a Speedi Sleeve 99472. Search for best price option.
Rear main seal is part # E5NN6701BA. Use old seal to install new seal.
Also, check rear freeze plugs. Yours look to be stainless so you are probably okay, but if not, now is the time to replace them.
