I just purchased a new jd 375 backhoe. I noticed that when i let the hoe sit 1 or 2 days without being used the stabilizers start to drift down. Is this normal?

Thanks

Most hydraulics, if left "up", will slowly drift down over time. I think the operative word here would be,..."slowly". Stabilizers are no different, IMO at least. Then depending on the circumstances and the place and whats close that might be damaged, you either put them down or tie them up.

Perhaps I should leave this to someone who "knows" this particular 375 model a little more intimately as each has its own idiosyncrasies.

This part should be under "safety", but of course "never" leave anything "up" where kids are apt to touch levers and crush one another! You likely know all that stuff, but just a reminder to those that may not.

Good luck with your new machine,...should be fun!

Welcome to TBN TJJR:D

The leakdown is perfectly normal. A short chain or strap between the two will solve your problem.

what kenny said.I put and chain and hook on to hold them up when stored off tractor.

The only thing I would add is to look if there is any fluid on the floor under the stabilizer. I had a slow leak on the top of the stabilizer hyd cylinder (o-ring?) and my dealer replaced the entire cylinder under warranty.
