Today I was coming out of c range and it had just a little grind. Now no ranges will engage and the tractor will not move. The shuttle was in neutral clutch depressed and the tractor was not moving at all. Any ideas? All of the linkages are working externally. I think something gave inside the case. Waiting to here back from the dealer.

Hopefully it is something simple. Does yours have 3 or 4 ranges?

4 ranges. None of the external roll pins were sheared. My dealer actually came out and checked it out. While messing with it started working. We are kinda stumped. I ran it about an hour with no issues. I would say operator error but I checked everything multiple times and I’ve been running shuttle tractors for a long time. They aren’t real complicated. Who knows. Devine intervention I guess.

Interesting. This is a big deal for us to track with the new transmission. Please keep is updated if this issue happens again or if you figure out what happened.

Thanks for sharing.

i have seen this a few time my guesstimate would be the shifter linkage wedged itself preventing you from engaging the shifter fork in the trans, this unfortunately has been an issue decently with how they designed the linkage to move it allows the linkage to have a bit to much of side to side play and this can cause it to stick out of gear and prevent use, however it can be fixed very easily with just messing around with the lever until it unbinds the linkage that being said i have seen twice so far this year( over a 6 month period) that the linkages really get wedged and we had to go to the rear undo the linages set everything back to normal positions and reinstall the linkages.

Here's a pic of the linkage. The shifter gets jamed between the 2 sets of forks. The fix is a light tap with a hammer. The cure is never force the shifter when operating the tractor. If it gets stuck find lvl ground work the tractor back and forth untill the transmission gets unloaded and gently work the shifter into place. If that doesn't work refer to the "fix".

Thanks for the follow up, and the picture. I'm sure that will help others in the future that have the same issue pop up.

SO-> place on level ground and attempt to gently place the shuttle lever in either forward or reverse position to gain motion of the tractor?

Sounds tough to make happen if the tractor doesn't move under it's own power based on a stuck shifter? other than to roll down a convenient slope in neutral or clutch depressed?

Not sure I get this idea of "find lvl ground", "work tractor back and forth"?

Please explain as I just bought that same transmission in my 4820R, thanks for the pics and info so far!

The idea here is to "unload" the transmission so as not to contribute to anything holding things from freeing up so to speak. Returning the tractor to idle and a nice flat area and "rocking" back and forth using the peddles is the best way I've found. Others might have better ways but this works for me. And yes this has happend to me on the Branson (only once) and other equipment, so I kinda speak from experience here. The Hydrostat transmission is excellent, it's the linkage that could use some thought. Oh, if you have to use the "fix" (see my post above) you might have to remove the fender to get to it.
