what is the valve called on the right side of a 3510 that hooks up to the radiator and to engine and how do you adjust

Not to sure on the valve but ill look it up. Have you put high pressure air and cleaned the radiator out yet? It may not look clogged but if you have been mowing or working in dusty conditions it can get packed in there pretty well... will have to blow it out from the inside out.
Last summer one of the hoses on the valve went bad so to get by I bypassed the valve till i could get to a dealer and talk to the mechanic. It seemed to work fine till the temp got up to just past normal then would climb rapidly. when i talked to a mechanic he said the valve was put in by engineers to help cool the back cylinder and i could use it with a bypass if i watched the temp. when i finished brushhogging I removed the valve and in the process of prying the top hose off broke the tube that goes into the waterjacket fixed it with a piece of 3/8 copper and jb weld. have cleaned the radiator with both air and power washer and as long as you dont work it too hard all is fine but if i am using the pto tree saw it heats up even in cold weather. From the looks of the inside of the valve the amount of flow can be adjusted but now the valve is not turning dont want to break something and not fix the problem anyway thanks for your reply Ed

My 3510 radiator fins have narrow spacing and clog easy. have to blow them out from inside regularly when mowing or in dusty conditions.
If the battery sits in front of the radiator, it may not be getting enough air. I lowered my battery box down between the frame and keep the fins clean. No more overheating.

Your mechanic was blowing smoke where it doesn't belong, I don't think I'd trust him to work on mine !! The valve you describe is merely a draincock to drain the radiator and the block of antifreeze at the same time and is the lowest point in the cooling system. I broke mine off in the woods several years ago and just capped both hoses. Has nothing to do with your overheating problem, unless of course it's leaking. If you'll do a search on overheating in the 2810, 3510 and 4110 you'll find a lot of discussion on the overheating issues. These radiators hold chaff badly and need constant cleaning. Also dropping the battery down to help airflow is the next biggest help with the problem.

Skip is correct. While I have sold my 4110 several years ago, it was a great tractor and my brother still uses it to this day with no problems...other than it still tends to overheat when cutting in dusty conditions. The 10 series tractors are well known to have undersized and easily plugged radiators. Unfortunately, its the nature of the beast with the 3510/4110. Great tractors. Just have to keep a compressor handy to blow out the radiator.
I have a 4510. Unsure how similar it is to yours but I have to blow out the radiator after nearly every mowing even with the battery relocated, the windshield washer reservoir removed and an electric pusher fan added. The cooling system is a weaker link, after that was done no warm temps though.
