Hi guys, a few issues I noticed while using my recently purchased 3510 for the first time doing a decent amount of loader work today…

1. I noticed the temp gauge was higher than I thought it should be. Granted temps were 90°.. higher humidity.. real feel 100°.. attached is the photo of the temp.. is that normal for the day temp? Or a bit high?

2. When I pressed the forward hydro down hard I noticed a light kick on on the dash (left side middle).. unfortunately the plastic on the dash is not optimal for clarity so I need to look at the manual to see what the dash lights are… but any idea what would cause that?

3. I was running it as mid to higher throttle and while driving it.. it shut off twice.. turn key and it went right back on.

Any assistance would be appreciated!

OK, update for you guys. Radiator seems to be clear and is full of fluid.

Every time I went to use it after a bit, a light came on under the speedo/ RPM gauge. My gauge plastic was way too oxidized to see what the light said. So I took it apart and cleaned it and then use some silicone lubricant to somewhat polish it up. I got it rather clear.

Turns out the light says check in a box.

I’m having issues with the tractor just randomly shutting off… today has been a different temperatures. Any idea what could cause a sudden shut off… but I can start it right up.

Here is the picture of the light. The other two is because it had just shut off when I took the picture.

Any help is appreciated Maybe somebody else had the same experience?

That temp is showing high. Mine runs just over the bottom quarter line, up to half on a hot day. Is it boiling coolant? The gauges can be off due to corrosion and the like. My fuel gauge won't go up over half even is it's full.

The manual doesn't even show a "Check" light, but it is primarily for shuttle shift, not HSTs. Hopefully someone can chime in about that.

BTW, how did you clean that lens? That looks great. Mine was clouded, but I didn't get it anywhere near that clear.

I don’t believe it is boiling coolant. The jug is up to the line. Unfortunately I’m not sure on this 100% though.

It definitely seems like it’s running hot after being used for a while. But it was also 90° high humidity real feel temperature of 100° that day.

I have scoured the Internet as well as the manual and cannot find anything about a check light.

A Colleague mentioned checking safety switches?

It’s weird because yesterday I started it for the first time and went to move it and it shuts off and that light comes on, but I can start right back up immediately

I will have to look at that thread and see if any thing is mentioned in there that is similar to my issue

As for the dashboard plastic cover…

When the light first came on, I couldn’t even read what the lights said. It was so oxidize.

The way I got it to look the way it does currently. I took the five screws that hold the upper portion of the dashboard out, and I unscrewed the instrument cluster from the dashboard housing.

I was able to free the clear plastic cover from the instrument panel and I used purple power to clean both sides. It’s very dirty and yellowish/orange colored residue came off of it.

I had some silicone lubricant sitting around that I sprayed on the inside/outside and made sure to cover all the lens… then I buffed it off as best as I could, and it seemed clear it up enough to the point where it is now in that picture. I don’t know if it’ll last, but it looks a heck of a lot better than it did!

Reading that thread… I want to look at the seat safety switch, the brake safety switch and go from there

Ok update on the issues.

I have looked at the radiator.. seems to be clean and filled. I haven’t run it much since the light turned on so I will keep an eye on the temperature as I continue to use it.

As for the sudden shut off and check light…

Sudden shut off I believe is either this solenoid actuator attached to the emergency fuel shutoff T-Handle under the dash… or it’s the ignition switch.. (I believe it’s the solenoid over the ignition switch) which was throwing the light on constantly..

According to the manual (though it favors shuttle shift style) the key is what shuts the whole tractor off.. I.e. that solenoid actuator electronically shuts the fuel off..

My tractors solenoid actuator was turning it off while it was running.. again is it the solenoid actuator or the switch? I unplugged the solenoid and for the little bit I ran it today it did not turn off..

Now for the light… after I unplugged that solenoid actuator.. I still had the light but this time it was flashing. So according to the thread posted by @Offroadtek the culprit is either the seat safety switch, the brake safety switch or the pro safety switch..

The previous owner eliminated the seat safety switch with a wire in the plugs. The ptos and switches were all off.. so I removed the bottom dash panel and figured out that every time I push the brake petal that light goes out.. when I release it… it starts flashing… I remove a wire off of it.. light goes on constant.. so I figured that is the other culprit.

Now to run it for a while to see if these are true.

Does anyone know the name of the solenoid actuator is? Is it the fuel shut off solenoid?

I assume the brake switch is either the brake safety switch or the brake light switch?
