345 starter solenoid problem

battery is fully charged. 12.4 volts at solenoid. when key is turned sounds as though gear is jammed-engine does not turn over. any ideas? much thanks frank

jump the solenoid to the starter with a pos. cable. cable is just a jumper from pos term to starter. make sure its got the brake locked. starter should engage. be careful. if this turns the starter, you have an elec issue between batt and starter. solenoids are know to get corroded. try cleaning terminals with wire brush and make sure you didnt omit any connections. be careful and good luck.
