340 international tractor

[340 international tractor]

On a recently acquired 340 International Utility tractor , when I worked the lever on the touch control on the Hydraulic valve, I don't seem to get any oil back to the hydraulic cylinder for the 3 point hitch, but I get a loud squeling noise from the hydraulic pump, like its bucking pressure. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM ?

Sounds like the hyd flow is blocked somewhere.

Check all Quick Disconnects if you have them.

It could be the inline check valve sticking. I'm assuming yours has a double acting cylinder. I have a 240, so not exactly sure where it's located on the 340, as there are a few differences in them. But should be between the Hyd. control valve, and cylinder. Here is a link to the Case/IH online parts store exploded view of the check valve. Could be a possibility there is a piece of debris in the check valve, not allowing it to activate.
