Tractor
3320 john deere 2006
After buying my 3320 in 2006, I have nothing but trouble and worry from this tractor. While using the tractor for no known reason it shuts off. In has been in and out of the shop for 3 years now with no success.

Jd has replaced the fuel pump three times as well as relocated the pump out from the hood. Fuel tank has been removed and cleaned as well as only fueling with commerical diesel. All voltage is correct.

After the shutoff the engine will start again after 8 to 10 turnovers. Then it runs a short while and shutoff again and continues to shut down untill I give up for the day. The next day is ok for a couple of hours then all starts over again. Any ideas.

Why have you waited three years? I'd be writing a letter to John Deere and requesting a 'lemon' replacement.

i had a similar issue with my 3520 when it was new. the fuel line coming from the tank was pulled down into a hole that allowed it to kink and reduce fuel flow after a time. symtoms were very similar to yours. probably not it but an easy check

That sounds like a very possible solution. A line with reduced flow.

The service people have been so nice to me. They keep trying so I hate to write JD as they will come down on these guys so I keep giving them another chance. MDDozier

I will tell the mechanics to look for the fuel line that may be collapsed. Thanks so much.
I have heard the fuel shut off solnoid has a fusable link that might go open at times as well as a weak solnoid. Will mention all three things.
Thanks so much for your info so far. MDDozier
DidI mention the tractorhas been in JD shop last 3 days.

I applaud your sense of fairness; but the dealer's employees are probably not your family and close friends. It doesn't matter whether it's a design/manufacturing problem, or a dealer issue, or a combination of both; it's way past time to light a fire under Deere's butt to make your expensive tractor usable...assuming you have any warranty left.

Mjncad,
I'd say he does since this has been an ongoing and unresolved issue.

Good luck with getting it fixed but I agree with the rest of the guys. It's time for you to go to Deere. The dealer should have gone to Deere when they couldn't fix it the first time or two.
They may be "nice" but you spent a lot of money and they are in business, it's there responsibility to sell you a product they can support. Can you take it to another dealer? Here we have more than one dealer within a half hour drive. Maybe even call another dealer. Usually other dealers are happy to show they deserve your business and will help.

my two cents,
Rob

I would try to be pleasant and fair but would in all fairness to you would expect this to be resolved by Deere within the next 30 days. If the service rep for Deere hasn't been involved he certainly needs to be in the loop.
