3320 Diesel additive question

Good Morning guys,
I have a quick question. Nights in MN are dipping into the mid/low 20's and it got me thinking the 3320 still has 3/4 of a tank of summer diesel in it and with most summer projects done now i don't see my self burning that much fuel before it starts getting really cold.
Do you guys have a diesel additive you recommend? My 2520 I never added anything to the Diesel but normally by this time of year i had it almost empty and it was ready for a full tank of winter diesel. Going to swing by fleet farm after work and get some if someone can help point me in the right direction.

I use Power Service all year long.It has an anti-gel additive in it.

I use Optilube XPD. It has an anti-gel, cetane boost, water demuslifycation and most importantly lubrication. The ULSD we have today has horible scar numbers and can be very hard on fuel pumps and injectors.

Its pretty easy to find the independant testing Arlen Spicer did on these fuel additives. Unfortunatly, while Power Service is readily available at almost anywhere, its performance is at the bottom of the list.

John Deere has a winter fuel additive you can try. I Use Stanadyne fuel additive in my JD tractor, VW turbo diesel and my Excursion 6.0 diesel. I've used this additive for too many years to count and am very satisfied with it.

All of the independent studies have shown the ULSD fuel has adequate lubrication even for older engines. The Federal Government required the refiners to add lubrication as a part of the USDL requirements. There are myriads of forums on diesel engines that cover this area.

They no longer do. Golden eagle makes it now. They are the makers of Stabil products.

Please show me an independant test that shows thaey have adequate lube? I will show you one that proves they do not:

Also, I called my local BP distibutor that says the scar numbers from thier fuel in my area go from 330 to 550. Bosch pumps require a 420 max.

Just remember that the OP seems to be more interested in an additive that can winterize the summer diesel in his fuel tank.

I've also read the "for and against" threads and links for the lubricity concern. An additive is relatively cheap protection and frankly, I don't put a lot of credence in the government reports.

That is exactly why I am trying to steer him away from power service. While it will lower the cloud point, it does little for the condensation issues that could build. It does little for keeping parts that might have water in the fuel touching them. It does not lubricate items that might need it. Power service is the bottom end of fuel additive that many people use because they are easy to get and cheap. He could pour kerosine in his tank and do what power service does.

At least step up a little and use howes or FPPF. Something other than the worst product made.
