I want to move up from my DR field and brush to a tractor mount, can my 3302 handle thick seeding with a 6' along with small saplings?

I would not recommend a 6 foot bushhog for the 3320. My mom's 5 foot King Kutter can bog fairly easily on her cab/air 3320 even at 2600 rpm, blades sharp etc, while my 3038e handles a 6 foot RC 2072 with ease even at 2100 rpm. I wonder if the load demands of the cab/air setup saps more hp than JD specs let on. Based on how dramatic the difference is, if my 3038e really produces 30 PTO hp, then I can't believe my mom is getting 25 out of hers. It seems more like 20 - 22. Perhaps if you have an OS tractor, you would fare better but I would surely recommend borrowing someone's 6 footer to try before you bought one.

the HP is probably fine, but I'd focus on weight.
1) do you have hills
2) will you get front weights

I purchase a Heavy Duty Woods 72" for my 4720 cab and the front wheels came off the ground too easy. I had to send it back for a Standard Duty 72" and buy front weights. I have a lot of hills too.

A co- worker offered up his woods 6' to try great suggestion. The weight is a issue I have no extra weight in the front . I will have to address this, steep hills to mow.:confused2:

I would recommend the 5'. I run a JD MX6 on a JD 5303 and had been running it behind a JD 5105. You can tell it's there when in deep bahia grass. I think the 5' would be better suited. You can probably run it, but may have to go slower or cut smaller swaths.

I would recommend the 5'. I had an OS 3520 with a 6 footer, and it would bog down in 2' high thick grass/weeds.

I think if you check the specifications for the 3320 you will find the 6' is rated as being too big. Safety is a big issue and the extra weight might well be a problem.

I have a 3520 and a 5' brush mower. If I were in short weeds it might handle a 6', but I would be doubtful

Good luck and stay safe.

Really, the issue is not going to be ballasting a 6 foot bushhog on the 3320, but power. The 3320 has a heavier front end than my 3038e, but with enough 70# suitcase weights (8 of them plus the weight of the front hood guard) I have had no trouble ballasting a 6 foot hog, and my land is very hilly. PTO power is the issue.

MSMUD - Agree that ballasting is not the big issue. You are correct and that is what I did a poor job of saying. The 3320 doesn't have enough horsepower.

Thanks for helping clarify.
