Sorry to hear this happen to you!the way I look at it,this is cast iron you have some major damage, how big is the hole! do you weld? is the rest of your cub in good shape what about the pump is it ok? find out if anybody does tranny work on tractors in your area. it may be cheaper to rebuild it then buying a new one! ask around ! I know dealer ships want $60 to $75 an HOUR.I'm sure someone will post and be more helpful then I'am.

One of the bearings for the rear diff carrier or axle(s) must have spit out a ball or roller bearing. If a loose one gets caught between meshing gears it forces the gears apart and usually breaks the gear case/diff housing. Sad thing is, the hydrostatic drive portion is probably fine. This is definately a freak occurance. This could happen on a $2K machine or a $200K one. Don't the diffs have a long warranty on these machines? Either way I'd make contact with a trusted dealer and call CC for advise. Maybe you could get partial coverage if it is out of warranty.
