3235 PTO Trouble

Last week the pto did not want to shut down i had to hit the pto button a couple times for it to shut down.This week it was working normal for about 20min or so than it just shut off on its own.I tried to restart it a few times and it would only ingage a sec or two.So i drove it back and cleaned it up about 30 min and restarted the PTO.It ran normal ,i only ran it a min or so and put it away for the day.I want to try to fix this myself.I don't know were to begain.Bad switch someting electric? Any help on trouble shooting or any idea what i could try.Maybe somene had this happen to them?

Most likely cause is a relay thats sticking beyond that the bearings maybe starting to seize. Next time it does it shut off the mower and disconnect the plug to the PTO and restart it and see if the PTO is still engaged. If it is its bad bearings if not its electrical.

The 3000 Series uses a vacuum system and not an electric clutch. I'd check your lines, it sounds like you may be loosing your vacuum. I know on my dad's 3240 he had a similar problem and it ended up being the plastic boot that connects the line to the pod (the line was pushed too far into the boot) I'd also look at the check valve by the PTO solenoid. Last winter we had that freeze up. This should be stuff you can easily check out at home.

Thanks for the replies.JoeT208 got me looking in the right place.It was a easy fix i just had to push the end of the hose in a little more ( it was not much) i mowed 2 hrs yesturday and had no trouble.
