I'll have to look for my grease gun adapter. I bought an adapter with a smaller end specifically for the Cub, thinking that it will fit on the u-joint fitting without removing the coupling. I know I have it somewhere in the garage. It can only be in one of a thousand places.

If you ever make the mistake of not getting the shaft locked in position, you will be so sorry! Mine came loose , then beat the snot out of the coupler as the mower spun down. It dinged it to the point it would't slide back on, even with the mower out of the equation. I was back and forth to the vise, filing, deburring for an hour. New driveshaft for the 5252 is about $350, so I was happy to return mine to working order.

been there/done that - mine is even harder to get on now after THAT incident. Thats why I only take the deck of at the end of the season. I use an engine lift to lift my GT3235's front end off the ground to access the blades/underside of deck.
