I have a john deere 420 and when I bought it the rear body was not attached to the frame. It would help to see a picture of the spacers used between the frame and the front of the rear body where it attaches.
My Son's got a 420. I was there one day when he had it apart. I think it used those rubber spacers that have a stud coming out of the top and bottom??? I think it was the same at the rear of the fender assembly. I had a 322 and it was built that way. I couldn't tell you a thickness measurement though. I'm pretty sure you are gonna want something like that or the vibration is gonna be really bad!!!
I made metal spacers for it and you are right the vibration was just too much. Now I found and ordered factory rubber isolators from jd.
Watch those rubber spacers! They break easily. Install them and when they break at the glue point fabricate your own using a rubber isolator and a through bolt. No more problems after that!
Yep, but unless you use an isolator on both sides of the fender and both sides of the frame, you still will have bolt vibration.
Try it. You'll be surprised.
I'm building a 1990 420 from scratch, where are these parts in the diagram?
