I'm a new owner of a JD 3032E with a couple of questions. I could find nothing in the owner's manual or the archives of TBN about them.
This is my 1st tractor with HST. When I let off the go pedal, either forward or reverse, it feels like brakes are applied. This is more than just engine braking, it feels like mechanical brakes. In fact, when released quickly, the rear tires will actually slide on a gravel surface. I'm assuming this is normal with HST and am asking for confirmation.
Second, when I move the tractor in high range by pushing the pedal with the engine at idle or slightly above, there is a loud squeal coming from the trans-axle area similar if not the same as the sound when I try to move with the parking brake on.
As the tractor picks up ground speed the noise goes away. Starting off with the engine at higher rpms , > 1500, the sound is not there. The squeal mostly goes away after the everything is warmed up nicely. Are these things normal or do I need to contact my dealer.
A brief explanation of the relationship between the HST and the braking system or a link to more definitive information will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
