The seat on my 3016 is falling apart. The vinyl portion is separated from the metal framework. It looks like it was only held on by a clear "Liquid Nails" compound and that compound has turned brittle and failed. The vinyl portion now will not even fit into the grooves well enough to reglue it. Any suggestion about where to buy a new and better seat?

Can you find a seat cover that will fit?
How old is the tractor, is it parked outside in the sun and rain, etc. etc.
How did Hodges come to be so round?

The vinyl and foam has totally separated from the frame When I tilt the seat up the whole top of it falls out. Yes, it spends a lot of time sitting out in the sun. I thought tractors would be used to this. I don't have a storage building. Hodges is a small incorporated town. They basically draw a circle around the courthouse and that is the boundary. Of course there hasn't been a courthouse in this town for about 100 years.

Well when you fix it perhaps you could at least toss a tarp over it or something. That hot SC sun and the UV will eventually eat anything like that up. Don't expect the paint to last long either. Red is prone to fade anyway.

I once had to go to traffic court at a gas station and pay the judge wearing bib overalls. LOL That was in Wallace. They'd just wait for us to cross the river and bam the bubble gum machine would lite up. I had a GTO, I got a ticket in it, my dad got a ticket in it, my mom got a ticket in it and my brother got a ticket in it, all in Wallace. At least we should have gotten a family discount.

I'm pretty sure Mahindra sells a 'replacement' seat covering.

I have a Mahindra 4110. had flip seat and the under side rusted off the flip part. The vinyl is good. Cushion is good. But, wanting seat to be bolted to tractor, I bought at least 4 that didn't fit. Every seat that i bought stated, fits "Mahindra 4110". TSC and 3 internet purchases didn't fit. "Universal" bolt up, not even close on 2 seats. One was too high on floor so couldn't get my legs under steering wheel. One matched bolt pattern, but seat back pushed me forward. I asked Mahindra dealer and answer was they only had aftermarket seats. I measured one up and it wasn't even close.

Thinking over problem, I solved it. Put original seat in place and strapped to base with nylon straps. Had a large piece of foam left over from hospital stay. When released in 13 I was so skinny (130) I carried foam into restaurants to cushion my rear bones ( now 177 ) So, I strapped this foam to tractor seat. Today I cut grass for 2 hours. My Mahindra rides better than my Xterra SUV. Only thing seat doesn't flip.

If base and metal part of seat is in good shape, I'd try to recover and re-cushion Maybe it will be better than original. Of course I would rather have had a new seat. I just got tired of aggravation with seat suppliers.

Good luck.......Coffeeman

I've replaced several seats on John Deeres... You can get yellow or black seats at Tractor Supply, Agri Supply, Ebay, etc..... Need to make you a small shed, car port, or something to store it inside. Plus, then you will have room to buy and store more stuff...... :)

Another option would be to remove the seat and take it to an auto upholstery shop and ask how much to refoam and cover the seat. Who knows you might be able to get something in a real fancy zebra, or leopard skin pattern. Or maybe something in a urethane foam like that used for wet suits would be more suitable. No matter what, at least throw a tarp or drop cloth over it to keep the sun off when it's parked.

Take measurements of your mounting base and get something aftermarket like tisco products... none will mount right up... I don't think iv replaced a single tractor seat other than like a 9n or 135 that the seat just popped right on... you will have to drill holes in the existing bracket and make it work... or just buy a new seat... or fix the one you have... a good seamstress can do wonders

Hello All,

Don't want to hi-jack the thread but my father-in-laws Mahindra 4110 is in a similar situation. I have been looking for possible replacements but haven't really found anything that's a direct bolt-on replacement. A bolt-on replacement/upgrade would be awesome. However, I am ok with doing some modification work but would like to find something/somebody that has already been down this road so I can get an idea of how much headache I am in store for.

Pa Pa Jack,
Have you found a good replacement?

coffeeman,
If you don't mind me asking and or posting what were the seats you tried? Just curious which ones I should stay away from.

Thanks,
Scott

I thought most of the Mahindra seats were made by Michigan Seat, at least the ones coming from India. I would think they would be a fairly standard seat mounting pattern, but I HAVE BEEN WRONG IN THE PAST [ go figure, eh...??? ] Here is a link to about the exact seat that is on my 5035 [ except mine says " Mahindra " with a big M on it ] Don't know about the Korean or Jap Mahindra's.... I would think they are shipped in country and then equipped with US made tires, rims, seats, etc.. But, again, I could be blowing smoke....

Hello JerryK,

That's the seat I have got my eye on. It's a tad pricey but after spending 8+ hours on the tractor Friday/Saturday (did I mention it's my father-in-laws ;) ) it could be worth every penny. In my case I would be looking at getting the seat as a Father's Day gift that I will get to take advantage of when I borrow the tractor :D. My only concern is that I hate to get a gift for him that requires fabrication to get installed. I personally don't mind the work or cost but when it comes to this type of fabrication my Father-in-law is the guy I go to for help. So I am not sure how nice of a gift this would be if it requires his effort to modify his tractor to get the seat to fit . At this point I am thinking I will verify Northern Tool's return policy and give it whirl.

Thanks,
Scott
