Hey, Im heading out tomorrow so wont get a chance to check. I have 60 hours on a new tractor, and getting ready to load it up and bring to the dealer. The backhoe was quiet easy to detach. Once I detached it I drove 600 yards to show mother who i bought it for the three point hitch and how it worked for the snow blower their thinking of getting for it. I put up the lifters and it went up momentarily and now I cant get it to move back down. I check the knob under the sit and turned it counter clockwise to speed up the lift and make sure it wasnt in the locked position and it did nothing. Is there something Im missing. It was dark at this point so I will look in the morning. would taking the backhoe off really unload the oil from the hst? Any answers would be great thanks. mahindra 2816

You probably accidentally decreased the lowering speed of the 3pt by turning the lowering speed valve. I don't know Mahindra but on Kioti tractors the valve control is a little faucet type control near the operator's heel when sitting on the tractor. Look it up in your owner's manual. If you turn the dial from turtle to rabbit (in Kioti decals) the 3pt will lower quickly.

yeah thats the speed adjustment I was mentioning. It is a knob on mahindra between the calves of your legs while sitting in the seat. counter clockwise speeds up, clockwise slows down, all the way clockwise lockes. but still nothing.

Did try standing on the arms?

VroomVroom--The lift arms on the 3PT won't go down on their own unless you have the weight of an implement on them. This is true for most all makes of tractors. Regards, Mike

Oh really. thanks for that. I did actually wonder that and I did stand on them, im about 200 lbs...but no success. with this being said, wouldnt it be difficult to hook up your attachments should you back into them with the 3pt up? Im used to a farmall M, no 3pt . Thanks.

Standing on them--I just put one foot on mine--with the lever in the down position, should lower the arms for implement attachment. This is where the adjusting knob also comes into play. I'm sure you'll get the right balance after playing with it a bit. Regards, Mike

Thanks mike, I will give it a try in the morning. As for detaching the backhoe, I was going to check the transmission right after but forgot before driving it. Whats the chances thats low. Nothing with the 3pt, Im sure now I just didnt put the weight on that, but was wondering when disconnecting the hydraulic attachment, there must be some left in the backhoe.

It should not take more than a foot on the 3pt arms to make them go down. Maybe something is actually wrong here.

Did the 3pt function normally before this incident?

the backhoe has been on it so the 3pt gear isnt im place. Just the lift arms, so maybe there isnt enough weight on the short arms to push it down. With the 3pt arms attached, its further from the hydraulics so im hoping easier to go down.

When you disconnected the backhoe, did you get the hydraulic connections on the tractor, back together the way they should be? Read the backhoe owners manual and it should show you how they should be when you remove the backhoe.

If you did not do this DO NOT RUN YOUR TRACTOR until you do. With most backhoes, you risk grenadeing your hydraulic pump if you run with those hoses disconnected.

thanks all. I put the 3pt on the actuator this morning and stood on the bars and it went down. Probably couldnt put enough weight on just the short actuator arms to get it to go down, seems to be working fine now.

Galen,
If the BH is not connected to a remote, what are you describing?:confused2:

In theory you could run the BH off the powerbeyond port I think but it would be much less convenient at least for hooking up and disconnecting.

Okay on the power beyond.:) But I thought that connection would just be a quick disconnect (QD), as in 1.:confused2:

Oh, I got it now..............one QD and two different lines to swap back in forth for two different uses. Okay, I am awake now.;)
Had a hard time digesting it as I kept thinking about the QDs at the back of my tractor.

Powerbeyond ports are generally under the tractor so involve a bit more hassle than walking up to the rear remotes and connecting/disconnecting.

Right, that is what I was thinking. But I was visualizing someone may have a QD there for a grapple, then change it for the BH, if they didn't have remotes back there. I always thought power beyond would be hard plumbed in before this thead started.
