Doc . . . the pumps I ordered are advertised as being for spraying chemicals and fertilizers. I presume they might actually be the same pumps, but perhaps with different seals?

On the ShurFlo pumps, the motors and diaphram heads are the same. The valves are made of different substances for different applications. The 2088 series is typical for RV and sprayer uses. Its usually the motor or diaphram head that fails. My motorhome went thru 3 pumps in 8 years. All were diaphram head failures.

Mad . . . I presume they are designed to fail and easily replaced with spare parts available at any RV dealership?

I have a 25 gallon sprayer that runs off of a 12 volt pump. I usually use it mounted to the rear rack of my atv, but last year while the atv was on the disabled list I strapped it to the carry-all and used it on my B9200. I wired a harness that had battery clips instead of the cigarette lighter plug I use on the atv, and jsut attached the clips to the battery on the tractor (it's conveniently located between the seat and left fender).

It worked ok, but the atv works much better for me. I know northern Indiana is pretty flat compared to here, so I don't know if it will be a problem for you. The biggest thing I had to watch for was starting up a bank or just coming down off of one....with the carry-all sticking out behind the tractor you have to watch that the back of it doesn't dig into the ground. I had the spray-boom mounted to the back of the carry-all and had to be careful that I didn't rip it off.

If you mount some wood to your carry-all you should be able to make the wood wide enough that you could place the tanks side-by-side eliminating the need to make a bracket for stacking them. Just a thought. Good luck with your project.

I think that would be a very rare case. My brother had a 50 gallon spray rig with a ShurFlo pump for spraying insecticides and never had a problem of any kind with it for 7 years; still working fine when he sold it.

And we lived full time in RVs for 6 years; a fifth-wheel the first 3 years and a motorhome the other 3, and I only worked on one of my pumps once. We had a time when the pump produced less than normal pressure and in fact wouldn't build enough pressure to cut off, so I went and bought a diaphram kit (about $11 in Anchorage if I remember right) and when I took the pump apart, I found one loose screw; didn't really need the new diaphram parts; just needed that screw put back, but since I had the new stuff I went ahead and put the new parts in.

If I recall correctly, the ShurFlo had 4 major parts assemblies, the motor, the drive, the valve block and the diaphram head. Parts are easily obtainable for any of the assemblies.

We used our motorhome a lot, 3 kids 2 adults, lots of showers, lots of dish washing, most of the time without hookups. The pump got a good workout. I guess I just had bad luck with pumps. I think I still have a spare pump somewhere in the basement. I finally broke down and bought one of those expensive high volume quiet pumps. Sold the motorhome right after that.

Bowhunter. . . I won't have the parts to build my spray rig for another 10 to 14 days. I thought that stacking the sprayers would save me space in my garage and make the "footprint" of the spray rig about the size of the carry-all.

Until I see the actual tanks and how they might fit, anything is open for design/discusssion. Side By Side would be fine with me too, if both tanks fit well next to each other and still leave me clearance for working on the pumps, easy access to the filler caps, etc. My first goal is functional design, my second goal is space savings because I don't have lots of room inside my garage to store more implements.

As of now, I did not buy the "Boom Poles" for the spray rig. But my thought was if I mounted the tanks one over the other, then I could use the upper support bracket to hang the spray booms from if I add them later??? (I think I spend way too much time thinking about stuff . . . but I still have not decided if I should paint in New Holland Blue to match my TC24D or paint it Kubota Orange to match the B2910 . . . maybe I'll just opt for primer grey!)

Hey Bob,
I didn't have my welder wired up when I needed the sprayer. So I went ahead a purchased that Fimco with the 3pt setup for 800$ from TSC. Here is a picture. If you need any measurements or pictures let me know and I'll take the camera out. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

MikefromMI . . .THANKS FOR THE PICTURE, that is pretty much what I am looking at making (maybe not quite as nice). There are 2 hoses on the back of your unit, does your unit have a hydraulic pump? How big is your tank?

My vision is to essentially build a double decker version of what you have, with twin 16 gallon tanks stacked on top of each other. The lower tank my be set reward a bit and the upper tank may be set forward a bit so I can have access to the pumps and hoses for maintainence.

I am also thinking of installing casters on the bottom of the frame so I can roll it into the corner of my garage when it is not in use.

Bob,

FYI, I measured my 25 gal Fimco tank. It has a footprint of 18" wide x 36" long and is 18" high at it highest point. The 16 gal tank is probably a little less tall. You will definately need more length/width/height for clearances.

That setup that MikefromMI has is interesting. Agri-Supply has a similar 3pt setup with a 55 gal tank for $429 without the pump but with the boom and handgun.
