i decided to have a go at getting this thing fixed after seeing prices for new pumps or rebuilding it so i tore into basically. Took every hose off and cleaned them, new fluid in the pump, and put hoses back on.
Ran the tractor for 20 minutes or so then started cycling the steering back and forth and also pushing on the brakes, after about another 20 minutes of that I started using the 3 point lever and bring it up and down cycling it. Started out like it has been so i took it for a short drive down the lane and back and put it back in the garage. Started cycling the 3 pont again, slowly going higher and higher each time. finally got the 3 point all the way up and cycled the steering back and forth for awhile then dropped the 3 point back down. This time it came up a little faster but would slow back down half way. Basically did this cycling for another 10-20 minutes or so and now i'm at the point where everything appears to be running good, 3 point drops and raises like it did before.
Next time I use the tractor, which if we get the snow their calling for this weekend it will be out next monday, will be the real test to see if its still going strong.
Also other then the little spray i get with the one hose the others looked good so I only have one to replace in the future.
