hoping someone can help i have 1953 ford jubilee and the 3 point hitch isent working can someone tell where to start does the pto need to be engaged for this to work..

I cannot say for sure, but I do think the PTO DOES need to be running.

The 8n ford (the jubilees predecessor) had a PTO driven hydraulic pump. Without the PTO running, the pump didnt run, without the pump running, you have no hydraulics.

The later 600 and 800 series had live hydraulics that the PTO did NOT need to be running. There was a seperat pump on the bellhousing of the transmission. That pump ran anytime the engine did, and therefore the 3PH worked anytime the tractor was running,

Easiest way to tell is to just try it.

okay ill try that this weekend but i think i know what your saying about the hydraulic pump at the bell housing there is one there i think its a pump ill take pictures..
