3 Point Hitch Won't Pick Up

I have a TO30 1954 massey ferguson, the lift is not working. It sounds like the same problem that (dscearce posted on 9/23/12). I've read the replies from his post. Is the TO30 hydraulic system the same as the 165? and can I use these replies to maybe solve my problem?

first, have you checked the oil level?

start off by telling us some details.

what have you done or not done yet?

was it working then stopped, or is this a new purchase? or?

Is your pump turning?

Is the hyd tank full?

Is the 3pt lever working correctly?

Install a hyd gage and check some pressures.

Is the descent/lower valve locked down?

Is the lift moving a little or not at all?

Are the filters and screens good and clean?

Checked the oil level--Good, showing full
That's all I've done so far.
Thought I'll check the posts out first to see if someone else has had or are having the problem
What do I need to look for to tell if the pump is turning (I'am green)
The 3pt lever is working correctly
the lift is not moving at all
Don't have a hyd gage to check, Will get one
Will check filter and screens and clean if needed

You could loosen or remove a hose and place in a bucket and check for fluid. Be careful and only run the engine for a brief check.

1965 Ford 4000 Tractor - I'm trying to repair my three point hitch. Took off the top cover and removed the lift cylinder is this suppose to move a little The service manual i have does not have any good pictures of how this part is suppose to work.

The Hydraulic Lift Cylinder (Part number C5NN477B) inside the lift cylinder appears to be a moveable sleeve or maybe its just a lip that is welded to the lift cylinder and it only looks like a sleeve. If its a moveable sleeve inside the lift cylinder then my problem is that the sleeve is rusted from the inside to the lift cylinder and I need to free the sleeve. I think what I see as a lip inside the lift cylinder is really welded to the lift cylinder and does not move.

Not sure if the hydraulics operate the same as a TO20 but the pto has to be engaged on ours for the 3pt to work

The hydraulics on the to 30 are not the same as the 165.
Although it is a Scotch yoke pump that is all they have in common,no hydraulic filter so dont waste time looking for it,for the hydraulics to work the pto should be engaged that is the transmissoin in neutral and the pto lever engaged ,the pto is driven via the hydraulic pump so if the pto is turning so is the pump!!.
The hydraulic control lever is simple to operate ,up or down and hold is SOMEWHERE in between,the hydraulics will stop working if you depress the clutch so if you need the pto to drive something you will have to move of and the pto will start to turn ,not a really good idea.
