Howdy,

Been lurkin' & learnin' for a little while, but, now it's time to make my first post, so, here goes . . . . .

What are the spec's of the different catagories of 3 pt hitches?
What makes a Cat 0 a Cat 0, and a Cat 1 a Cat 1, and what does a Limited Cat 1 do, that the other two do or don't?

Is it a weight issue, a spread issue, a pin size issue?
There seems to be a lot of overlap in the brochures?

That's it. Thanx in advance, Dave.

Thanx Greg! That clears up the picture quite a bit.

Does anyone know what the specs are for a "Limited" Cat 1?
Are it's pins 5/8", or 3/4 & 7/8"?
Is the spread 20", 26", or something in between?
What is it's max HP rating?

Thanx again, Dave.

I don't know what a "Limited" Cat 1 is ... the table Greg posted is the standard. I think you will have to ask the Company that made the limited cat 1 equiped attachment.

Some subcompacts, such as Kubota BX series, have what is sometimes referred to as limited Cat. 1. The pins are the same but lift arms are not as long, which means they cannot spread as wide. They, therefore, will not dock with some Cat. 1 implements on which the pins have a spacing greater than 32" (for BX) wide.

Perhaps the bigger issue is that the shorter arms make a smaller arc as they lift. This will not allow some implements to lift as high as needed, and truely messes up some things like a post hole digger. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have tractors with cat 1, 2, and 3N 3pt hitches. It gets interesting......
