Afternoon Guys,

I'm sure this has been covered in other posts, but I don't seem to be able to find it. If someone can point me to the relevant post or posts I would greatly appreciate it.

I've noticed that if I leave an attachment on the 3ph without lowering it to the ground, it will drop about 4-5 inches over-night. I have not noticed any drop in performance or range of movement, and the hydro fluid is at the correct level. The B7800 has about 40 hrs. on it and about 80% of that time has been spent working wth a BB or a PHD. The rest of the hrs were bushhogging and a little boom pole work. Basically, nothing out of the ordinary.

As I'm coming up on my 50 hr. service, I want to know if I should consider this drop a problem or just part of what I should expect at this level of use.

As always, thanks in advance for all your help! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I call it normal.

Hello MFL,

I am not a hydraulic expert but I can tell you that this is not uncommon. Having said that, with only 40hrs on your machine I would think it should still be "tight" and not leak hydraulic pressure that quickly. You may want to double check with your dealer at the 50hr service. I have a L35 with 960 hrs on it and the 3pt. doesn't drop at all but my bucket and BH will within a few hours. I have been told that this is normal and it is recommended by many that the safe practice is to always lower attachments after use. I hope this reassures you. Happy digging /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just wondering why you would leave the attachment raised overnight anyway? I would think that the attachment should be lowered for any extended period of non-use just to relieve the pressure on the hydraulic system.

Of course, then you wouldn't have discovered the leak down. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

But then again, maybe the leak down was the result of not lowering........... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

No, I'm not going there. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Golfgar4,

You're certainly right about leaving the attachments up. I normally check and make sure that the FEL and any attachment on the 3PH is lowered and the pressure is released. A couple of weeks ago, I had spent the afternoon digging post holes, and when I finished I just shut down and left the tractor where it was. I went in without going throught the normal shut down routine, and ended up leaving both the FEL and the PHD hanging. Hungry and worn out always leaves me making bad decisions!! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Anyway, thats when I noticed the drop. Of course now that this was under my skin, I had to confirm that it was indeed dropping, so I replicated the conditions half a dozen more times. I don't normally leave the attachments hanging, but now that I know about the drop, it really bugs me. No drop on the FEL, BTW.

Thanks for the responses guys, sorry it took a awhile to write back. I have a house full of Florida refugees that are taking up all my spare time! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
