3.5% interest from a checking account

maybe things are achangin: just saw an ad for a checking account that pays 3.5%: free checks, unlimitied checkwriting, online banking and bill paying: that beats the short term cd's and money markets around here. maybe it will catch on.

what kind of minimum balance etc. my bet close to a gran or so, but hey it would be nice even at that.

Is the rate fixed? We established a checking account several years ago at a local bank. At the time, we had some cash we needed to "park" for a bit while deciding what to do with it. The interest was 6%, so we kept adding to it.

When the interest rates started to fall, we received a notice we would not be allowed to make any more deposits to that account. Good news is that we are still getting the 6% on money that had been deposited before the cutoff.................chim

This company pays 4% on a savings account, FDIC Insured to $100K. Easy to set up and only need $1 to open an account. And NO I do not work for them or get anything.

$1500 min to avoid a service charge, free checks, and unlimited check writting. its better than anything else offered around here at the moment..
