I went to look at a 2950 with cab today and when I started it I noticed a pecking sound. When you raised rpm's it would quiten down. Almost sounds like the front hydrualic pump. Then when I raised the lift arms the pecking sound went away but the tractor bogged down bad. Does that sound like the hydraulic pump or something else? I'm familiar with 06-86 series IH and don't know much about deere's. Do they just have the one pump in front of the engine? This tractor did not have the hi/lo. Thanks.

Check hyd stand-by pressure. Hyd hi-lo was an option. You do realize the hi-lo control is integrated in the speed change lever on a 2950 SGB(cab) tractor? Pecking noise could be a worn hyd pump drive coupler.

I agree with txJim. Sounds like you have a worn pump coupler. Either cushion #3 is worn or shaft #6 is loose on splines of hydraulic pump shaft. Checking pressure is a good idea, although it is normal for rpm's to drop when raising rockshaft. The pump is providing a large volume of oil to lift rockshaft. There are two pumps involved here. The transmission pump needs to provide oil for engaging pto cluth, pto brake, (hi-lo and mfwd if equipped) lubing transmission, and any leftover flow supplies oil to main pump.
