I have a 2940 that periodically looses electrical power to the dash. When this happens, there is NOTHING: No lights, gauges, or ignition power. When it first happened I thought the batteries were dead. Hooking a 200 amp jumper to it did nothing. Then eventually you here the "click" of a relay and power is restored. It generally does fine after cranking but the other day while running all power quit to the dash and the battery light came on. I shut it down for fear of cooking an alternator or voltage regulator and then the power did not return to restart. I cussed, stomped, and snorted for a few minutes turning the key and any other thing I could find. Just before giving up, "click" and the power came back on and I drove to the barn without problems. These kind of gremlins drive me insane. Any help would be greatly appreciated and a wiring diagram would be welcome, also.

I would look for loose connections. If you can locate this relay, Check it's terminals for loose/corrosion. You also may have a bad/worn ignition switch, try wiggling the key when the problem happens. Check with the service manager at your JD dealer, he should be able to print out a wiring diagram for you. You may want to replace the relay if none of the above help
