Buying Advice 270 Backhoe Question

Wooden just so somebody will respond I will say that the latest I have read rescently was a post that stated their dealer was saying February. I don't know how much faith you can put in any of these dates since John Deere had the 270 listed in the attachment brochure for last year.
I was fortunate to locate a used #46 backhoe early last summer. I will say and not to change the subject that I found the #46 once set up was not bad to install or remove. Also I not being a machinest, I do wonder about changing the current #46 long subframe mount to a shortened mount, and the stress it will place on the rear of the tractor. The only issue I have with the #46 is that it takes up a lot of storage space when off of the tractor.

Thanks for your reply Smalltown. My reason for wanting to go with the 270 is just so I don't have to take my mmm brackets and 3pt hitch arms off the machine every time I want to use the hoe. Just seems like way too much work.
I bought this machine to make my life easier due to health issues. small mechanical work is not a problem, but I can't lift anything over 25 lbs, so strong arming the 46 is out of the question for me. Getting down on the ground is no problem but getting back up is, or I would have bought a 46 a long time ago. The JD video misled me into thinking all you need to do was back up to the backhoe and push in a few pins, connect the hoses and away you go. I came to find out that was far from the truth. I don't know which tractor they used for that promotion clip that I saw, but the 2720 is not it.
Guess I'll just have to wait!!

Have not called my dealer as yet but will soon as Feb rolls around. From the add that JD posted a while back, its a bolt on BH with no removal of anything on the machine, so I guess that may be where they are having trouble. Someone else posted that they had put the 46 back into production and may be waiting to sell that stock off, so who knows!!

My two biggest issues is the hydraulics are not near as smooth as the # 7 and the reach on the # 46 is too short. The reach would probably be ok on the 2305 but IMO it's too short for the 2320, 2520 and the 2720.
Also, what the heck is it with 3 teeth on a 16" bucket? Purely a cost saving issue because it's just not practicable. However, I fixed ours http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/john-deere-owning-operating/171608-46-bh-3-teeth.html

I'm still hearing its supposed to be released next month. The last delay was supposedly because they hadn't fully worked out all of the bugs and wanted a cleaner release. The fact is, you never can work out all the bugs until you get a big enough quantity of the product out there for us to do all the stupid things we're going to try.
