2615 hst - overheating when using pto

Mapp 1, You've already cleaned your radiator screens, also blow out your radiator with compressed air. Make sure your coolant level is up, and make sure your fan belt is tight. Then try it again, if the tractor still heats up call your dealer. Good Luck with it.

I have the same overheating problem with mine only when I get in tall grass and fine debris blows up into the radiaor fins. You need to blow the radiator fins out and keep the screen clean that slides out. Pull the screen starit up without shaking any debris onto bottom of radiator because when you start the engine that fine dust on the bottom will get sucked into the fins of the radiator. I also put an extra radiator net around my whole tractor to catch a lot of this debris when bushhogging tall grass. My tractor runs alot in the red after cutting very tall grass and geting it clogged. This can cause a warped head in the future or blown head gasket. No problem for me as I am a very fast good mechanic. I will be adding a electric radiator fan to the front of the radiator and will post photos. Right now I am changing axle seals out because of wire that got caught up in the axle. Photos of axle removal on link.

MAPP1,
Get used to it, my 4110 does the same thing and every 30 minutes I have to stop and cool it. Mahindra's CUT, like many of the others, will not stay cool in the south MS heat.

As the others have said the radiator and screen must be clean. Also check the radiator level to see if it is low. Under the hood right behind the radiator is your air filter but at only 28 hours it should not be too dirty. Fan belt should be adjusted properly for fan to pull air through radiator.

Running your RPM too low may cause it to run hot since you would be lugging the engine. The correct RPM is shown on your tachometer and is just shy of 2400RPM to obtain 540 PTO speed for attachments. In light brush you may get away with a lower RPM. I set my RPM for 540 PTO on the tachometer and control the speed with the HST pedal and or cruise lever while using low range. My temp gauge stays in the normal range this way.

I've seen somewhere, (here on TBN maybe?) someone taking screen cloth and wrapping it around the grill openings on the front of the tractor. It maybe easier to shake the seeds off, especially if, like mine, the loader prevents you from pulling the radiator screen out to clean.

Wow, I hope this isn't a future problem looming for me... I've bushhoged many, many acres of waist-high field grass in the 100 degree heat and I've never seen the temp gauge rise above the beginning of the green with my 2615hst. I do ritually clean out the radiator screen and blow out the radiator, but has anyone found issues with loose fan belts or cooling system problems? I've trying to be proactive ;)

shvl73, I can't imagine how the loader prevents you from opening the hood to pull the screen. What's up with that? I've never removed my loader in over 2 years, and what you say makes absolutely no sense, sorry.

On mine, the screen slides out from the side. The loader has a side brace that runs on the side of the side panel. You can only pull the screen out a small amount before it contacts the fel brace.

Try removing the air cleaner canister and blowing out the oil cooler. Those things get packed with crud. If that HST oil gets too hot it will translate to the rest of the cooling system as higher temp.

That is just poor design. My 2615 HST purchased in 2005 must be a bit newer. Perhaps yours could be retrofitted to pull out from above.
