2555 Block Heater Install

   / 2555 Block Heater Install #21
After reading some other discussions on this topic it appears that most folks recommend the in-block heaters. I'm going to order the Zerostart 310-0093 for my 2555 and see how it works out.. I assume with this type heater you don't leave it plugged in all night, but insted you put it on a timmer or turn it on 2 or 3 hours prior to starting the tractor, is that correct?

I don't know why you wouldn't leave it plugged in all night. In Wyoming, we plugged our tank heaters in our cars in overnight and there were even outlets in parking lots so you could plug them in when you went in to work.

It fit fine, kind of a pain to install. You actually have to remove the little block assembly that the plug screws into, which is number 26 on the diagram. The problem is the heater itself has a large hex head on it and it hits the starter when turning it to screw it in. After install in the block you need to make sure a flat side of the hex is toward the starter, a point will hit when you put the block back on. It is a 400 watt heater, actually a Zerostart 3100093 heater with a Mahindra label on it. Search Zerostart 3100093 on Amazon, they are only $40 compared to Mahindra's $110. The heater makes a big difference on how the tractor starts, I plug it in a few hours before I'm going to use it, fires right up with no diesel cackle and is warmed up in a just a few minutes. I also had to put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator, I couldn't get the tractor to build any heat, now it warms up to operating temperature and the heater puts out hot air.

Thanks CLeatis18 for your post... I too am a proud Mahindra 2555 owner and need the heater for this winter .. Just ordered mine today and will install it next weekend.....

I know its been almost 7 years since you installed the block heater but did you have to drain all the coolant or anything at all….? Also, its $90 now on Amazon.
