255 factory auxiliary remotes

The remote on my 255 massey is very hard to operate. It takes about all the strength I have at 75 to either push the lever down or to raise it. There is good movement till I get to the either very bottom or very top and this is where the remote operates. Can this be adjusted? I know the bushing at the end of the rod that runs from the unit on the left over to the lever on the right side is worn. It's so hard to operate that we are bending the lever every time we use it. Is there and adjustment under the plate over the unit and below the seat or is there a lubrication point on it.
