I have been seaching for others with the same setup and they appear to be few. My 2520 arrived 11/1/07. So I'm a new owner.

I'm having problems with the 62D mounting. The rear lift pins of the deck frame are held on with cotter pins that rub the tires. This seems like they (JD) got something wrong. Also I'm scared to lower the 3 point with the deck frame on the tractor. It is in the dirt.

The second issue is the 3 point lift arms also hit the tires. I tightened the turnbuckles but again I'm worried that with no left/right swing in the 3 point, that a lowered implement hanging up on a rock or a root will cause damage.

I see Shawk uses a blower in the snow. Does anyone have chains on turfs? Where did you buy them and any other information would help. tirechains.com does not have a stock item but they can be custom made. Deere does not offer chains for the turfs. There is very little clearance between the tires and the lift arms. Last year I used the FEL and a rear blade for snow removal. This worked out rather well. Blade the snow out. Lift the end runs with the FEL.

Any thoughts would be welcomed

I have turf tires on my 2520 and have had no need for chains even while plowing snow. The 3-pt arms rubbing the tires does happen, be glad you do not have R4's. My old John Deeres have sway chains on the 3-pt arms that connect to the draw bar, that works. I guess those engineers have long since retired. Have seen the 62 mower deck at a machinery show, looked awkward at best. Enjoy your new tractor and accept its minor imperfections as I have and have fun putting it to work.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try a season without the chains.

I run chains and have the R4's!

Hey Getindirty, you picked a great tractor, happen to be partial, I also have a 2520. Mine came with the R-4's and one of the first things the dealer did was turn the rear tires around to give me more room, my linkage from the 62D also rubbed. After using it for awhile, I also noticed that when you wanted to use anything with the three point hitch, the mower deck would also continue to go up and down with the three point, not a good thing. I actually disconnected the mower deck and all the linkage that would drag on the ground so I could use the rear three point effectively but I knew there had to be a better way. The 2320's have a knob on the floor board to keep the mower deck up when using the TPH, why didn't they put this on the 2520 I'll never know. Anyway, a call to the dealer and he had me set up with a kit they installed called a "lockup kit" that holds the mower deck in the up position allowing you to use the TPH. The part# is LVB24962 and the total cost with pickup and delivery of the tractor was $151.50, pretty good deal I thought. Everything works great now, bought a I-match system which is the only way to go. Have fun with your new tractor, you picked the BEST!
By the way, this is my first post, what a milestone!

Does the I-Match eliminate the "tire rub" problem? I'm lurking around looking at these posts for when I down size in the early spring. I am considering the 2520 but the undersized snow blower, tire rub and lack of clearance for snow chains is a oncern for me.

The I-match works excellent, but it can still sway from side to side if the lower turnbuckle links are not tight. My chains on R4 still show marks from touching and I was always wary with them on. I am not putting on the chains now. I siped the tires by hand in strategic locations plus I have a few tons of pea gravel. So, I now plow the snow and then if it is slick enough, I take the loader and scoop some pea gravel and spread on top. No traction problems then...

If you get the I-match and tighten the chains and lock them with the pin, you will not rub the tires. When I had my 2520, before I got Pat's easy change, I did not keep the chains tight and rubbed the tires pretty bad. I would think I had it right, then get on a side slope and you could feel the rub. JC

I forgot to add, I have a KK rake. It was a little wide on the 2520 and I could not pull the arms in enough to keep from rubbing when I had the 3pt all the way up. If I let it down a little, no more rub.

You would think they (JD) would fix that by upgrading the machine with the bent style arms that I have seen on other tractors with a narrow stance.

I'm in an area where chains are a must of winter and this is a huge factor. I would like to run a rear blade with a snow blower and the rub / lack of clearance might be ahsow stopper. Since most of my yard work is done I think I would prefer turfs.

Do you think the PAT's is better than the I-match?

Pat's will work on an brand of implement. My LX5 is the only Deere implement that I have, and I did not want to chance something not fitting. JC

Larry111 thanks for the information on the "lock-up kit". I also felt that the mower deck was in the dirt. Seems like an easy solution.

The tire rub was solved by the dealer by flipping the tires and tighting the lower links.

I called tirechains.com and they can make a set of chains for those of us with turfs. I belive there is no issue with chains and R4's. JD has a set for this. As far as the undersized blower, I do not own one, yet!

Thanks for the lock up kit info. That might be someting I'll get later when I find another $100 bill lying around.

Congrats on your first post. I'm rather new here as well. Enjoy the tractor.

The I-match does not fix the tire rub. You need to tighten the lift arms. I was concerned that with no right to left movement in the 3 point that hitting something solid migth cause damage. But I guess I would need to traveling about 100 mph for that to be an issue. So far I have flip the tires and I added washers to the rear mower bracket pins and flipped the cotter pins to the inside so that they would not tear up the tire.

The salesman wanted to charge me for the LVB24962. I told him no thanks and they should have had it on the tractor when it was delivered.

When you flip the tires around - what is the new outside measurement?

AKKubota,
The I match and others use a fixed top hook vs a adjustable top connection. I have a speeco. It has another part not shown. It is "Y" shaped that pins to the quick hitch. The "tail" has another hole. This is for the non quick hitch implements. I like it better than Pats.

Blain's Farm and Fleet : SpeeCo® Category 1 Quick Hitch

or

3-Point Quick Hitch — Category 1 | Category 1 Attachments | Northern Tool + Equipment

Also tirechains.com can make a set of chains that are thinner than the standard ones that would give you more clearance. This is pretty common for them.
