Just for knowledge, why do you think the 2520 was so much more popular than the 4115. Was it the 2.5 more h.p. to the steering, the bigger rear tires, the cosmetic changes or just bad timing? This though just ran through my mine as I was looking at my 4115.

Is the 2520 a Yanmar tractor painted green, or assembled in the US as their big brothers are?

Don't have an answer for your question, but think you have hit on some good possibilities.

Here are my thoughts, and why I did NOT buy 4115-but rather the 4110.

-The 4115 only added a few more ponies under the hood, but it was Direct Injected vs. the Normally Aspirated engine in my 4110.
-The length (wheelbase) was slightly longer, the only benefit was to allow the use of the 72" MMM
-The hydraulic system and capacities where identical to each other-both have dual pumps, and operated at the same pressure and GPM.
-The cost was over 3k difference at the time I think when I bought my 4110, and there was just no benefit for all that extra money.

Now, you'd have to compare the 2320 and the 2520.

-2320 has single hydraulic pump, 2520 has two
-2520 has bigger tires
-2520 has greater lift capacity
And that is just a few of the difference's.

I thought you might reply but why is the 2520 a bigger seller? I understand why you bought what you wanted but still I don't understand why the 4115 wasn't a bigger seller.

Help me out.
Were the 4115's on the market at the same time as the 2520's ?
I'm remembering they were not.

I thought I answered both those questions?

The 4115 was over 3K more for basically no gain in performance.

The MSRP for the 2320 (closest match to the 4110) is $13,473, and the 2520 is $15,886 for a difference of $2,413 and you get more HP, faster hydraulics and more lift capacity to name just a few things.

Beenthere, I think the 4115 only was produced in 2004 and 2005. I think that is a short run considering how long the 2520 is running.

I thought so too. Deere made a model change and dropped the 4115. It was a short run and likely had little to nothing to do with the market demand. They don't keep producing a model (such as the 4115) until no one wants them anymore. Model changes have to involve many variables and factors.

But maybe I'm missing the point of your original question. :confused3:

I think that part of it is simply that the demand for CUT's has gone up, and more people are looking for the versatility of small tractors like the 2520. The 2520 has been in the right place at the right time.

Kenny I did not think the 2520 offered any more lift capacity either in loader or in three point v. The 2320. I thought the main difference was cycling speed. With regard to it's popularity the 2520 was a well advertised machine. The 4115 was not nor were it's 4010 and 4110 counterparts. They were also, at least in my area, very hard to find. I recall when looking for my first compact tractor deciding that I wanted a 4115. I looked everywhere as did my dealer with luck finding one after about three weeks of searching. When we priced it out the price difference v. the 4310 I bought was fairly small, with the 4310 being a nicer tractor. There have been as Kenny alluded to many changes in the 2520 that makes it a more marketable tractor and for a long time during it's run it only had competition with one rather than two other models within it's range.

Going way back in time, all those things precisely match my comparison between the 755 and 855.

Possibly the introduction of the "drive over" mower decks and the "easier" on/off of the 200cx loader made the 2520 a much more marketable unit versus the 4115. I would imagine many compact tractor buyers prefer the "simpler" operations of those 2 attachments.

The drive over decks are a recent addition, they where not always available. The 410 loaders are every bit as easy to take off as a 200cx. I still feel like it's a "bang for your buck" type deal.

Think a 4115 isn't in demand? Try finding one at a reasonable price. They weren't made but for a few years, making them pretty scarce. Not sure how much its design had to do with demand when it was new. Could be timing. Could be demand was fine, but deere just wanted to make changes. And now, there looks like plenty of demand for that size platform. Aren't they also a little smaller and lighter than the 2520?

Me, I'm looking for a used 2320 with loader and mower deck for a good price. Hard to come by. Everyone just loves their deere's I guess.:D
