Here's how electrical has been for mine

Tractor Electrical parts still original from factory - starter ( have lubed it and cleaned brushes up), ignition switch, clutch switch ,brake lite switch, block heater, alternator, regulator.

i recently wired up 2 12volts in parallel from pull and save ( $16 each:laughing:) not identical units either- so much for non matched batteries destroying themselves..

Even still using the original wire wrapped around the rebuildable fuses.

Electrical parts that have failed or been physically damaged and been replaced in the 20 + years of use

1 water temp gauge $8
2 amp meter $8
3 batteries 2- 6 volts replacements for series set up then 1 new 12volt by itself and
then finally 2 used 12 volts wired in parallel aprox. total $280
4 one headlight- branch attack broke the glass $ 36
5 both front turn signals 2@ 11.00 ea. $ 22
6 rear turn signals used trailer lights free from friend- so not sure on price $25
$379 total

If the tractor was in a warmer climate and had been stored inside the batteries likely would have lasted longer.

Also this machine has only spent 3 years (winters only) of its life under any kind of cover.

Other chinese tractor owners have fared as well. They can be great bargains...

Someday I plan on seeking out a small 20- 28 hp chinese tractor for my 3rd tractor Foton , Jinma ?? :)

 for satisfied chinese tractor owners

"Get Thru The Winter...."

Are those harsh in Central Florida?

well, i can't just let the animals starve thru the winter? or is that what you are sugesting i do? Time still passes in florida during those months ???

And as Paulharvey states, in many areas, our grass has already shut down. I've not had to do any mowing in 6 weeks... menaing no 'food' has grown for the things that eat grass, in 6 weeks.

Sound guy knows all about these Chinese made tractors. At least he'll buy one knowing their limitations and have a reasonable expectation of it. That said, I still have the farmPro 2420 with the two cyl diesel. It's still running and the gm alternator is still on it that I swapped in replacing the Chinese junk lol. I did have to put another battery on it. So have now put three batteries through it in 11 years of its life. Overall it's a good enough machine for our use cutting grass and towing logs at times. I would recommend one to anyone who is a handy man type of a hobby farmer. You just have to be able to wait for your online parts guy to help you out. (Mr affordable) lol

Steve

i'm glad to hear that 2420 is still kicking. I remember when the tool sale people sold 18-20ho 2wd tractors for 2999$ I ALMOST bought one to mess with as that was baout the going price for an antique.

I stop in to catch up now and then as i'm still moderately interested. I see now they are foton not jinma.

While the chinese do at least one odd thing or used to, like putting QD's in front of a relief valve, BETWEEN IT AND THE PUMP ( Wtf? ).. i'm still interested in the machines.

I agree Darryl on the front diff problems. I have a foton 25 estate +4 221 hours and after 50 hours drive shaft front snapped, spoke to technical in China and they re designed the front drive shafts. Now at 221 hours the other side has snapped. And no, I do not drive in 4x4 all the time as they said to me I must have.

what's the heaviest you have picked up, do you think?

something like this

solid Granite Rock, and was wet to the core. These rocks are rather large so not recommended to lift them very hi. the one above left both front tires about 3/4 flattened out from over loading it.

wide shot of the project.

if you check out koykers site the 140 specs like this-

Lift Capacity To Maximum Height At Pivot Pin 1300 lbs
Lift Capactity To Maximum Height 19.7" Forward Of Pivot Pin 970 lbs
Breakout Force At Ground Line At Pivot Pin 1900 lbs
Breakout Force At Ground Line 19.7" Forward Of Pivot Pin 1480 lbs

thinking a larger model is in order for round bales?? maybe the 160 ?

Lift Capacity To Maximum Height At Pivot Pin 2020 lbs
Lift Capactity To Maximum Height 19.7" Forward Of Pivot Pin 1500 lbs
Breakout Force At Ground Line At Pivot Pin 3780 lbs
Breakout Force At Ground Line 19.7" Forward Of Pivot Pin 2880 lbs

although most of Koykers specs leave some wiggle room due to system pressure settings

I can't say I agree with you here.
Over the past 13 years I have owned my compact tractor, I have dug/lifted and moved many hundreds of tons with the loader .
I use the loader to its maximum capacity often with no damage to the tractor.
I have about 250 on my nT204C and have moved more dirt and gravel than I can remember with the FEL and in 4wd. No issues at all.
