24 or 30

I had asked this before but have also looked at other posts pertaining to dirt scoops. I am not too worried about the amount of weight that i will be able to handle with the dirt scoop but my question is will the 30" scoop fit. Will it spread my lift arms too far? If it does, the arms will rub the tires. The rims are turned out already. Is there a difference in the spacing of the mounts between the 24 and 30" scoops? Any help would be appreciated.

I have an F15D with a 30" dirt scoop and it is close. I had to put 1" spacers on the pins to clear.
If I knew what I know now, I would have bought the 24" for my tractor.
It works but I have to be careful, it fits better with the bucket mounted, open end back, than open end forward.

Everything on the 30", including the pins, is 6" wider than on the 24". I think you would be pushing the envelope, with both size and weight, putting a 30" scoop on your tractor. Did you ever get your 24" scoop, and if so, does it fit?

I am going to order it this week. There are a few places around my area (Chesapeake, VA aka Hampton Roads) but they only have 30" scoops. Does anyone want to recommend which brand and who to ordered it from? I dont want to wait 2-3 weeks. That's what most dealers here tell me.

My 1700 just barely clears a 30".. but i also changed out my lower lift arms for the long generic ones at tractor supply.. like for an 8n.

Hmmm, how does your longer lift arm setup work? Any cons with this?

Well, with the longer arms, I get a little more clearance on the width, and distance to tire. As for cons.. I guess the only one would be reduced lift capacity. The farther you are away from the back of the tractor, the less you will be able to lift... But we are only talking probably 6" here extra. I was able to lift 500+ pounds of dirt, with the 30" scoop, and the lift didn't act like it was any kind of a problem at all....front was a bit light.. especially over bumps, even with a 180# front bumper that I added. But overall, the lower lift arm length was a plus, when it came to impliments.. especially when changing them.... more elbow room for us 'big' americans.

This is a 24" Lowery on my YM2000B, which I was advised by both the dealer I bought it from as well as the dealer I bought my tractor from, to get instead of the 30". It is fairly lightweight and inexpensive, ($190). I had to drive about 100 miles into Al, to get it, and then do a little work on it. However I do like the design of it, and it is red. It's loaded with about 500# of rocks and seems to be a pretty good load with 200# ballast on the front.

I just built a 3pt kit for my YM1301D. The pair of 2.5"x2"x19" steel bent for lower lift arms cost me $25 from a local metal fab shop. The ball ends were about $4 each from agri-supply. I had a bud of mine weld the ends on. I bead blasted them and painted them. The pair cost me about $45 including paint. I think the 8n lower lift arms listed for about $40 each at our local TSC, and this way I got to make them exactly the way I wanted. I'll try to get some pictures of the 3pt on my YM1301D soon and post them here.

Sorry guys, I had a little typo. I meant that the steel was 2.5"x1/2"x19". I think the ball ends add a couple of inches each to the length as measured ball center to ball center. Also, the ball ends are made for 5/8" thick steel, so for larger tractors, 5/8" would be my choice.

Still trying to find a 24" scoop her in Southeast Virginia. Northern want $75 to ship and Howse want $100 to ship. AG supply in VA doesnt carry them anymore. Anyone know where i can get one w/o paying the high shipping cost?

I see there is a Tractor Supply Co. store in Charlottesville, about 100 miles up I-64 from you. You might call them at 434-984-2190 and see if they have a 24" in stock. They carry King Cutter. If you have a SUV, van, or pick up, you could drive up and get it. You might also find out if there is a TSC nearer to you. Va. is crawling with them, about a dozen.
