I will check to see if my amp clamp will do DC current and if it does not...I will find one and get back to you. It has had a new solenoid in the past and made no difference. I cannot remember if the 2940 starter was also a Bosch starter or another brand. I do remember that it was the original starter for that tractor as this one is the original for this tractor, Bosch.

yes, 2 #2 ground cables from batts to starter bolt and 2 #2 cables to solenoid. I tend to overdo things sometime just to prove a point to myself...lol
I have destroked the pump in the past also. No change. Or at least not a noticeable change.
I want to thank all of you for your comments and ideas. This issue is apparently quite widespread to different extents throughout many of the 30, 40, 50 series tractors.
