2320 3 pt hiccups

Was grading a driveway with the box blade and the 3pt started bouncing. I've done some searching and I think I've lost a seal but wanted to see if anyone here has had a similar issue. 3 pt bounces while running, unless its down. Lift it up and it's dropping and the position control is raising it, at a rapid rate. Adjusting the rate valve has no affect. Closing the rate valve will hold the 3pt, but it will not stay up unless the rate valve is closed. Shutting off the tractor, the 3pt drops right away, only thing I can think is that there is a seal gone in the rock shaft cylinder. No visible leaks anywhere.

Anyone had this happen, I'm guessing this is not going to be a quick fix.

I know it just happened as I took the snowblower off, to grade the drive, and it was holding it a foot off the garage floor.

Maybe it's time to upgrade to a 3 or 4 series.....

Not getting a good read on what you mean by "bouncing", but is it acting like the 3pt is seeking a position?
Maybe something came loose in the feedback linkage.

Hasn't happened to my 2320, but my brother-in-law had a "hiccuping" 3 point hitch problem. It was a slight leak in control cylinder. The leak wasn't noticeable to the naked eye, but it was a bad seal nonetheless. If I recall, it was "fixable" and he didn't have to buy a new part -- got the seals repaired instead. His would hold position with no implement, but with any weight on it, it would happen.

I checked the linkage, and did adjust it some. No affect.

The bouncing is caused by the 3pt "leaking down" and the position control raising it back up to where it should be. If I raise it all the way up, it quickly starts dropping, and then lifts, then drops. It actually shakes the tractor pretty good with the box blade on.

It does it with no implement on, so I'm thinking either the relief is stuff open, or there is an issue with a oring or seal someplace.

If you raise 3 pt then close R-O-D screw will 3 pt stay up? If so then RS piston seal is not the problem but probably control or relief valve is the problem. Does this tractor have "draft control"? I'll guess valve(parts key 7) isn't seating properly.

Closing the rate of drop does hold the 3pt up. I was looking at diagram last night. Hope to start taking stuff apart later today. I found a few references online that debri could cause that valve not to shut.

Well, took both assemblies apart and inspected. Everything looks good. Raising the 3pt and closing the valve, will hold the 3pt up after shutting off the motor. I'm thinking it's in the valve, which of course requires lots of disassembly.

Can not you check parts key 7 for foreign material blocking valve seat without a lot of disassembly of valve?

I checked part #7 and part #17, found nothing blocking. Also checked o-rings #9 and 19. Cleaned everything and re-assembled, did not have any affect. I also checked o-rings on the sleeve assembly, #30, but I did not disassemble it to check the internals.
