2305 Mulch kit

I picked up a Mulch kit yesterday for the 62c deck. I put on both baffles and then the blades. I turned the drive shaft by hand and found the blade near the discharge and the middle were coming in contact with the baffle. I thought I installed the blades according to the directions but after taking them off and turning them around I did not have any more contact and they cleared the baffles.

Now the blade next to the closed section of the deck is striking the baffle just barely. While turning the drive shaft by hand I can feel resistance, but can over come it. I made sure the wing nuts are tight. Is there anything else to check or will it fix its self the first time I start the mower?

better fix it now because there will be no back button to push once you engage the PTO

Probably a dumb question; did you clean the deck of all the grass cakes before installation?

At first I missed some spots took it back off and now I can turn the deck by hand but get minor scraping.

Not much more I can say to help that isn't obvious. Make sure the deck is good and clean and then maybe see what kind of wiggling you can impart while tightening the bulbs to get them lined up just right. Maybe something is jutted just the wrong way or stepped up on a weld or something.

I didn't have any trouble putting the mulch kit on my 54" deck, other than the carriage bolt heads spinning in the crappy slots in the plastic bulbs while tightening the locking wing nuts. I cleaned my deck real well with soap and water before installing the kit but mostly to keep any possibility of moisture entrapment to a minimum.

If all else fails, take the mess down to your dealer and rub their noses in it.
