My 2301 is not charging and I'd like to determine if it is the alt. or the reg. It is the skinny little 2 wire alternator. I wonder, being as it is so small, if it puts out AC at the alt and gets rectified in the reg? I don't know if I should be looking for AC or DC at the 2 prong plug from the alt. Anyone got the answer?
Thanks
Chuck

If yours is like many others discussed here, you can expect about 30vac out of the alternator. Several people in this forum have commented about regulator failure. I would check all wires and connections, especially the ground connections, before replacing anything.

9 x out of ten its the voltage regulator, I just replaced one today on a 1610

You can buy one from any of the dealers on here.

If your isp can handle a 7,000KB file, email us (not PM, I rarely check those) and we can email you a copy of our aftermarket parts catalog. Your VR is a stock item.
