Was topping up steering fluid on new to me 230 (Perkins diesel) according to directions, and when I turned the wheels light brown milky fluid showed up in reservoir filler port. Assume this means water got in there? Is there a way to drain the fluid, or do I need to remove the reservoir and drain? Neither repair manual nor operator's manual say anything about this. If so, is this difficult? Any ideas on where the water got in, if that is the issue?

Any help appreciated.

Yes, I would pull the reservoir and drain it. Also drain the lines to the cylinder to make sure all water is out. Once you fill it back up you may have to work it back and forth to get all the air out.
