Oil & Fuel 2155 Low power...

Looking for some thoughts from you all before I pay hundreds of $$ to have this thing hauled into the dealer.

A couple of months ago I lost power while bush hogging. Felt like a fuel issue - temps were ok. Not smoking. I dumped some diesel conditioner in it and parked it. Next time I ran it (2 months later) it was fine and I mowed about 20 acres at normal power. Last night - 1 month later, fired it up and it would barely get to mowing RPM, even in neutral. Very low power - again, no smoking. I changed fuel filter. - Oil and coolant are fine. About 3900 hours on the tractor.

Thoughts?

How old is the fuel. With the months between use the fuel could have gone bad. Also old fuel will grow alge. You could have a restricted valve at the bottom of the tank or any where. I would pull line loose from tank to filter at the filter and make sure you have good flow. Then check line filter to pump. Then some new fuel and conditioner and run it some. Good Luck.

Thanks - Fuel isn't too old, and the filter is clear glass so I can see that it is staying full. I will pull that line and check it though, as this really does seem like a fuel issue.

I cleaned it out the last time this happened. It stays pretty clean, but I will pull it out and at least eliminate it as a possibility.

I'd suggest checking the lift pump to see if it's pumping good.
