any idea on value.. or any other info to help us decide?

i'm not a jd guy.. though have done some work on and with a 2240 etc...

They are 45PTO HP. Made 1983-1986. TSS transmission std. Top Shaft Synchronized, so shifting could be made "on the go" in each gear range.
What model loader? 1520 hours is very low for a 28 year old tractor. Not sure of value.

50 series are good tractors. Does it have collar shift ot TSS trans? I agree 1520 hrs is low maybe 11520 hrs. Does drawbar,3 pt balls, steering linkage or clutch pedal exhibit much wear?

If it is a 86 then it is a late model. I own a 2155 which for the most part is the same tractor. Mine is a 1987 model. I do have a brochure for the 55 series and it says there where a bunch of updates to my tractor but does not list them so I am not sure what the changes where between these two series of tractors. I have seen 2150 model tractors for sale anywhere from 8,000 in rough condition up to 13,000 with loader. Most seem to be around the $10,000 range. I know the tractors alone without loader I have not seen advertised for any less than $7,000. I have heard the 50 series where just about as good as the 55 series. They seem to be a well balanced tractor for the size and weight. The engines in them are very reliable. Does it have the independent or live pto? Easy way to tell is if it is independent it will have a leaver with a yellow handle you pull up about mid ways on left side of dash.
