Need more info. Does battery hold a charge? short would discharge battery. Does engine starter click or does it turn the engine over? Do you have fuel to carb? Is spark plug fouled? Do you have spark? What kind of engine? Courage engines noted for flywheel key failure. Engine not turning over could be safety switch failure.
