Found another tick on me last night
Not using permethrin treating pants? We do.

The permethrin you spray on your clothes only lasts through about 4 or 5 washes. It's the factory treated stuff that lasts through about 70 washes.

Also, when spraying on your clothing, You want to use a 0.5% spray specifically designated for spraying on clothing. A 12% concentration is not appropriate for this use.
You made me go look! I've stated previously that I use 12% Permethrin 35% on my work pants, thinking that it was totally safe at that concentration. That works out to about 4% Permethrin spray.

I based that 12% number on Adams Shampoo for dogs, thinking that was a safe number.
Boy was I mistaken!!! I went to recheck my Adams shampoo bottle and it states 0.15% Permethrin - NOT 15%. Fortunately I haven't used any 15% on my dog, but I have used 12% solution on my work pants.

Another conflicting point, I've also read the Permetrin will last up to 75 washes for my pants. I didn't believe that then, nor do I now. Your number of 4 or 5 washes seems to be much more realistic.

One other caution - do not use on cats - period.

Double check 'facts' seems to be more appropriate for me these days. Thanks for the update on the Permethrin info.

I've read 4 to 6 washes for self-applied permethrin spray (both online and on the spray bottles themselves).

70 washes is only for the factory applied permethrin treatment. I'm not sure of the process they use to bind it to the fabric. I know it involves heat (which is why they don't offer factory treated permethrin fleece jackets/vests: fleece will not hold up to the heat used in their process). I can attest to the fact that the factory treatment does last long. I actually tracked it on one of my pairs of pants: they are up to about 60 washes last time I counted the "hash marks" I made on the tag inside, and and still working. I know some of my T shirts have been through more washes than those pants (I'm retiring those). I've stopped tracking the number of washes other thn on that one pair of pants - my shirts and pants are usually worn out by that time anyway.

i use premethrin when going past the grass areas, this one was just walking down the driveway and not near any brush.
They seem to be dropping from above or carrying in the wind?
Was wearing sprayed shoes, just not my sprayed pants or shirt.

Another tick last night on my neck.
Looks like the permetherin worked as it was almost dead when I swept it off and it just sat there only moving one leg and then stopped.
So field tested and approved.
I have had more ticks each week since the spring than I have had in a normal year.
