2016 Truck Crash Test

   / 2016 Truck Crash Test #21
The GM and Ram were in the list because they had not been tested before. I'm pretty sure that test was new last year and the F150 was the only one tested then.

Why is that so hard to understand? Before bashing, why not read and look for all the facts. The facts are that the F150 was the only truck tested to receive a 'Good' rating. Period. It sucks to want to bash something, but you can't find any real reason to bash so you have to accuse others of leaving out facts, doesn't it?

Actually your being "pretty sure" is incorrect. If you go to the link and then do each truck individually so you can look at past tests on that model, you will see that the GM's for example were tested before, only thing new for all models is that the small overlap test is new (it is shown as blank box not coloured for all previous years and models, but for some reason the article does not explain that full context. The only thing that changed is the small overlap test otherwise all GM's and Fords were same rated etc etc . It is not "bashing" when I expect context. Sadly we live in a world these days where less and less people take into account the context of the supposed factual information they are bombarded with. Sadly we allow organizations with ulterior motives like insurance companies or big business groups to lobby governments to decide what laws and rights the public must adhere to. Our media has got lazy and even they, in their quest to sell their product, take the media releases verbatim from these lobbyist organizations and let that information stand as fact with no challenge of the context or motives. We even see this in politics. In a small way this happens even on this thread, and even with the loudest voices on forums all over the internet getting to spread information without context. All I ask is that we don’t fall prey to no longer taking those things into account.

+2. I think my Ram 2500 diesel, 10k# suspension would probably just run over their barrier :)

Absolutely true. We are exposed to it every day on the local and national news, plus so many things on the Internet in so many ways. Lemmings... I am afraid.

What we can learn from this is that if any of our pickup trucks hit something like a rural mailbox on the drivers side , the truck will be totaled and a writeoff. However in a Ford 2015 Supercab the insurance company won’t have to also pay for a broken ankle hospital bill. It is a moot point here in Canada because our health system already will pay for the broken ankle health costs, so it is not any more expensive on our pocket books to drive a Dodge or a GM. But all the more reason to keep that 1979 Pickup with the welded bumper that will just shatter the rural mailbox post and keep on truckin getting 9 mpg and able to back into a barn door without setting off any expensive air bags………..smile :)

Actually, by 'that test' I meant the small overlap. I was referring to that as new. But I hear you on the rest.
I sent the link to my wife and told her to avoid offset crashes in her 2015 RAM EcoDiesel.

I would definitely take a new truck over an old one in a serious crash any day. Well, I'd rather not be in the crash at all, but....

My philosophy is just lift it high enough so it 'clears most cars'. That way, you go over top. My Ford is 8 over stock on 31-10.50's Clears 90 percent of cars on the road today....
